Public to Choose First-Ever Olimpia de Plata Winner in Esports

At an awards ceremony full of novelties, the public will be able to choose the winner of an Olimpia de Plata award for the first time in history. According to the Argentine News Agency, the public's influence will be in the esports category, which was added this year. Additionally, the public will be able to choose a winner in a consolation prize among all nominees who do not win the main award. The 72nd edition of the awards for Argentine sports will take place next Monday, December 22, at the Usina del Arte in the La Boca neighborhood. With renewed organization by the company Torneos, the Olimpia Awards will have a winner chosen by the people. This will apply to the esports category, where the public can choose both their favorite team and the best athlete of the year. The nominated teams are 9Z Globant, Besti, Isurus, Krü (the team of former footballer Sergio 'Kun' Agüero), Leviatán, and ShindeN. The athletes represent a series of video games highly popular in the Argentine gaming scene. They are Luken (Counter-Strike 2), Try (Counter-Strike), Josedeodo (League of Legends), K1ng (Fortnite), Nicolas99fc (EA FC 25), and Lulitenz (Counter-Strike 2). Among the mentioned games, the shooter genre stands out, with the traditional Counter-Strike, its updated version, and Fortnite, a game that surprised the world in 2017 and has not lost popularity. It also includes battle arena games like League of Legends and EA FC, formerly known as FIFA, the world's most famous football video game. The nominations are now open to public voting, with time to vote until Saturday, December 20, at 23:59, two days before the official awards ceremony.
